I'm Jessica Wark.
I'm running for City Council because Ward 3 deserves a voice at the table that still sounds like Ward 3 when the meeting starts.
I live in Ward 3 with my husband Josh.
I've spent my working life teaching and learning. I started in the classroom as a fourth-grade teacher, spent three years helping school districts put technology to work in their classrooms, and substitute-taught right here in Greater Albany's schools. I hold a B.A. in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education from Bushnell University. Since then I've managed a 23-person sales team at an Oregon winery, run a staffing branch that helped Oregonians find work, and today Josh and I run our family businesses here in Albany.
What I care about
Roads, and the fee that pays for them. It is the reason I am running, and it comes down to three things.
Adopt a standard. There needs to be a minimum pavement condition for all roads, not just major thoroughfares.
Publish the list. The city has already ranked about 200 street segments for repair, and you should see the list.
Show the math. Tell Albany what the money will cover. Repaving, striping, sidewalks, and bike lanes all come out of one fee, so tell everyone what share goes where.
